On Sunday, the Cincinnati Bengals released linebacker, and former first round pick, Aaron Maybin. This week, the sequence featuring Maybin getting cut was featured on HBO’s Hard Knocks, including a deeper look into Maybin the person, who happens to be quite the artist.

Maybin says that he turned his phone off when the episode aired Tuesday night, according to TMZ. However, when he turned his phone back on, Maybin says that he was inundated with messages not from people consoling him, but from those interested in purchasing some of his art.

Maybin’s online gallery had “one of, if not the biggest nights” he’s ever seen, Maybin told TMZ. “Regardless of whatever happens football-wise, I’m probably gonna make more money in my art career,” he said.

To drive that point home, the report states some of Maybin’s artwork has sold for as much as $20,000 — so there’s clearly some real talent there. Check out a couple random examples of Maybin’s paintings in the Instagram images below.
