Jonny Gomes Alex RodriguezBOSTON — Alex Rodriguez says he wants to talk to Jonny Gomes. That could be a very interesting conversation.

Gomes was asked Thursday whether he thought it was OK that Rodriguez was still playing — and affecting the MLB playoff race — while appealing his 211-game MLB suspension. Gomes did not seem too pleased that Rodriguez was still active.

Rodriguez, however, named Gomes when talking Friday night about how he was hoping to mend fences after recent accusations.

“I support all my teammates,” Rodriguez said when asked about being part of the MLB players union. “Whether you play in Boston, with the Diamondbacks or the Mets, I love all the members of the union equally and unconditionally. I feel like I have great support. I’ve spoken to a lot of my teammates.

“I plan to speak to [Dustin Pedroia], maybe Jonny Gomes, maybe [David Ortiz], and have a full understanding that this is not true.”

A very interesting conversation, indeed.
