Alex Rodriguez to Resume Minor League Rehab, Reportedly Plans to Appeal Any Suspension

Alex RodriguezEven with a storm of suspension rumors circling around him, Alex Rodriguez is pressing on with his rehab.

Rodriguez completed a simulated game Thursday and will suit up for the Double-A Trenton Thunder on Friday and Saturday, the Yankees announced Thursday evening.

Friday will mark the first game action since July 20 for the third baseman, who has spent the last two weeks on the disabled list with a quad strain. In 13 minor league games across four levels this season, Rodriguez has gone 8-for-40 (.200) with two home runs and eight RBIs.

Rodriguez being on the field Friday night is far from a sure thing, however, as numerous media outlets have speculated that Major League Baseball will hit him with a sizable (or, some predict, lifetime) suspension before the end of the week.

How Rodriguez will react to such a suspension has been debated, but Joel Sherman of the New York Post reported Thursday that Rodriguez’s camp is unlikely to seek a settlement and will instead elect to appeal any punishment handed down.
