Entering Friday with a 60-74 record, the Toronto Blue Jays are 18 1/2 games back in the American League East and miles out of playoff contention.

It’s understandable if Jays fans have checked out for the fall, hoping the team’s highly touted roster will get its act together come spring, but at least one Toronto supporter was already prepared to write off the season months ago. This fan just so happened to work in law enforcement, and he expressed his frustration over the perennially frustrating club in a police report filed after some bozo ran onto the field at Rogers Centre back on May 5.

Nobody likes to see a game interrupted by a guy looking to get on TV, but, as the officer put it, this particular distraction gave Jays fans “a brief respite from their season-long agony.”
