The grandson of Dale Earnhardt and nephew of Dale Earnhardt Jr. is just 25 years old and starting to pursue a career on the oval track, himself. Unfortunately, Bobby Dale Earnhardt may have ran into a bit of a roadblock on life’s winding path.

Earnhardt, who currently races in the ARCA Truck Series, was arrested late Monday night in Charleston, W. Va., after police observed him driving erratically, according to TMZ. During the traffic stop, Earnhardt admitted to drinking earlier in the evening, then failed a field sobriety test.

“Mr. Earnhardt was pulled over for making a very wide left turn,” a police spokesperson told TMZ. “After talking with him, our officer noticed his eyes were glassy, speech thick and slurred, smelt of alcohol.

“He was asked to get out of the vehicle where he was unsteady and when asked he said he only had 2 shots of alcohol. The officer performed a field sobriety test and determined he was intoxicated. He was taken into custody where he took another ERIR2 test where he blew a .193.”

Earnhardt was scheduled to appear before a judge Tuesday morning.

While blowing a .193 makes this pretty much an open-and-shut case, the left turn may not have been caused by the alcohol. After all, Earnhardt should be pretty used to making wide left turns.

Earnhardt addressed the incident on Twitter on Tuesday afternoon:
