Bruins Promote Keith Gretzky to Director of Amateur Scouting, Hire P.J. Axelsson as European Scout

The Bruins’ scouting department shake-up is just about complete, and it includes bringing a former face back to the organization.

The B’s announced Tuesday that Keith Gretzky has been promoted to director of amateur scouting, a position that was vacated when the team cut ties with Wayne Smith last month. Gretzky joined the Bruins in 2011 as an amateur scout and will take over the scouting department. Gretzky is the older brother of NHL legend Wayne Gretzky.

The B’s also announced they have signed former Bruins forward P.J. Axelsson as an amateur scout covering Europe as well as hiring Keith Sullivan as an amateur scout. Axelsson spent his entire 11-year NHL career with the Bruins. He played 797 career games with the B’s with 103-184-287 totals while averaging 16:18 of ice time per game.
