Cristiano Ronaldo Shows Softer Side, Hugs Fan Who Ran Onto Field (Video)

Cristiano Ronaldo divides opinions like few others, but there’s no doubt that his fans think the world of him.

Ronaldo shared a tender moment with one of his devotees Wednesday night at Sun Life Stadium in Miami. The gesture — a lengthy embrace between Ronaldo and a young fan — seemed to strike a chord with the 67,273 fans in attendance and the millions more who saw it on television and online.

The young fan sprinted onto the field, easily avoiding security. When he reached Ronaldo, he knelt at the Portuguese superstar’s feet. Ronaldo urged him to get up and the two hugged for around 15-20 seconds.

The two also spoke to eachother — at very close range. We can only guess what their conversation was about. Perhaps the fan wanted Ronaldo to promise that he would sign a contract extension with Real Madrid, instead of leaving for Manchester United or another team (as rumors suggest).

When security finally arrived, officers went easy on the fan. Maybe Ronaldo put in a good word for him.

Now for the obligatory Lionel Messi comparison: Ronaldo’s fan hug was better than his Barcelona counterpart’s fan hug (click here to see it). That is all.
