BETWEEN THE LINES  — Don Orsillo’s tweeting (@Don Orsillo) about his love of cooking led to conversations about his cooking during Red Sox broadcasts, which, in turn, attracted the attention of The Boston Globe food and dining correspondent Andrea Pyenson. She reached out to NESN at the beginning of June to see if Don would like to feature one of his favorite dishes in The Globe’s food section.

Don was very interested in showing off his culinary skills, but had the challenge of finding a day during the busy Red Sox season that would allow him time to cook for Pyenson. The Red Sox had a scheduled day off on July 29 after a Sunday afternoon game in Baltimore which seemed like the best option. Ultimately, because of a rainout the week before, July 29 did not end up being a day off for the voice of the Red Sox on NESN, so he invited Pyenson to visit him in the morning to watch him make one of his favorite dishes .
