When his opponent was acting like a child, Gary RobertsĀ had two choices: he could either be the grown-up or respond in kind. He chose the latter.

Roberts, a 29-year-old English soccer player, pulled down his opponent’s shorts during a League Two (English fourth division) game Saturday. Astonishingly, the referee did not punish Roberts for the schoolyard prank — even though he was standing just feet away when it happened.

Roberts’ victim was Russell Penn, and the Cheltenham Town midfielder might have had it coming. As Roberts was preparing to take a free kick, Penn urged the referee to order Roberts take it from another spot. The armchair referee then went as far as to kick the ball away from the spot Roberts had chosen. You can’t really blame the Chesterfield winger for lashing out at Penn.

Roberts laughed last and laughed hardest. He scored in his team’s 2-0 win.

Watch Roberts pull the classic prank in the video below.
