FOX Sports and the United States Golf Association have agreed to terms on a 12-year deal that will give sports network television rights to the U.S. Open and other USGA championships through 2026.
The multimedia agreement will make FOX Sports and FOX Sports 1 the domestic partner for the U.S. Open and will begin in 2015, during which FOX will televise their first U.S. Open at Chambers Bay. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, but FOX is contractually obligated to air 146 hours of USGA championship golf, including the U.S. Women’s Open, U.S. Senior Open and amateur events.
The U.S. Open was previously televised on NBC Sports and ESPN, with ESPN airing the first two rounds and NBC Sports televising the weekend rounds. With the U.S. Open added to it’s arsenal, FOX Sports is now home to some of the world’s most-watched sporting events, including the Super Bowl, World Series, Daytona 500 and World Cup.
