It’s been a while since we’ve seen a good managerial meltdown at any level of baseball. Thankfully, for those of us who enjoy those types of things, we now have Rick Forney.

This independent league manager’sĀ outburst likely won’t go down as one of the best of all time, but it will have to do for now. Forney, manager of the Winnipeg Goldeyes in theĀ American Association of Independent Professional Baseball, was recently run from a game while at the pitcher’s mound.

That’s just where things got started, though. Forney eventually blew his lid, putting an unusual twist on a manager meltdown staple. After employing the classic move of kicking dirt all over home plate, Forney reached into his mouth, grabbed his chewing tobacco and threw it on home plate.

He left the diamond shortly thereafter, which eventually led to the umpire sheepishly clearing off home plate.
