Jake Peavy Faces Former Team for First Time as Xander Bogaerts, David Ross Return to Lineup

Jake PeavyJake Peavy will be facing some familiar faces on Saturday night.

After being dealt to the Red Sox in a three-team trade on July 30, the right-hander went from a team that was in the basement of the AL Central to one that was atop the AL East and looking to go far into the postseason.

Peavy spent five seasons with Chicago, and he will be making his first career start against his former team on Saturday.

In a smooth transition from one Sox to another, Peavy has been everything Boston had hoped he would be. He has pitched his way to a 2-1 record in his five starts since being acquired, and he has posted a 3.31 ERA to go along with 20 strikeouts in 32 2/3 innings.

Peavy will take the mound searching for his third win with the Red Sox, and he will do so pitching to David Ross, who is getting his first start in a week. Xander Bogaerts also makes his way into the lineup after getting the last two nights off, as he will get the nod at shortstop with Will Middlebrooks manning the hot corner.
