Jamaal CharlesThe Kansas City Chiefs got a major scare Monday when arguably their most important player went down with an injury.

Running back Jamaal Charles had to be carted off the field at practice Monday morning, with a lower-body injury. It was no doubt a scary sight for the Chiefs, but it sounds like it could have been much worse. New Chiefs coach Andy Reid revealed after practice that X-rays on Charles’ foot came back negative. The injury is being called a foot strain at this point.

Charles is no stranger to devastating injury. A knee injury cost him most of the 2011 season, but he was able to bounce back in a big way last season. The 26-year-old had one of the best seasons of his career in 2012, rushing for a career-high 1,509 yards and scoring five touchdowns.
