A four-run first inning was all the offense Jon Lester needed to lead the Red Sox past the surging Dodgers Saturday afternoon.
Jonny Gomes‘ three run homer capped the productive inning, and Lester was dominant on the mound, allowing only 3 hits and one earned run, while striking out six over 7 1/3 innings. The left-hander has found his groove in the second half of the season, posting a 2.31 ERA and striking out 38 in 46 2/3 innings over seven starts.
