Many baseball fans dream of seeing a game at every major league ballpark, but most don’t try to accomplish the daunting task in only 30 days.
Eric Mueller of Hartland, Mich., is attempting just that, however, as he will visit 30 major league stadiums in just one month’s time.
The Detroit Tigers season-ticket holder wanted to do something special for his 50th birthday that is coming up in October, but he made the milestone even more extraordinary when he realized he could use this quest to raise money for an issue close to his heart.
Mueller lost his father to leukemia 13 years ago, and another close friend is currently fighting the disease, so he is using his journey as a platform to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, according to the Detroit News.
“It’s a combination of my birthday and raising money for LLS,” Mueller said. “Anything I can do to raise a little awareness about the disease.”
Mueller has set up a website, 30parks30days.com, where donations can be made, his trip can be tracked and where his schedule that no team in baseball would be envious of, can also be found.
He will begin his trip with a day-night doubleheader that begins in Chicago and ends in Milwaukee. By scheduling two cities in one day, Mueller has arranged for a day off in the event of a rainout.
