Kendrick Lamar‘s 2012 record Good Kid, M.A.A.D City was a true accomplishment in the arena of hip hop, earning the rapper not only the accolades of music critics, but crossing over into huge mainstream success, as well. After putting out such a successful album, Lamar is enjoying a victory lap of sorts, popping up in the media seemingly every other day, and doing a few collaborations.
One of those collaborations is on the newly leaked Big Sean track “Control.” The song is attracting a lot of controversy, mostly for Lamar calling out a number of contemporary hip hop artists by name. However, fellow rappers aren’t the only folks the track lists.
Eleven-time NBA champion head coach Phil Jackson gets a shout-out on Lamar’s portion of “Control.” The lyrics read: “If Phil Jackson came back, still no coachin’ me. I’m uncoachable, I’m unsociable.”
Jackson, suffice it to say, begs to differ. The Zen Master apparently got word of the track, then decided to send a message to Lamar via Twitter, possibly quoting Bill Withers in the process.
