Lazio Curva NordThe seven-day period ending Aug. 19 was downright tough on some members of the soccer world. For some, the pain was self-inflicted. Misfortune located and struck others.

While there were plenty of winners last week, the good news didn’t spread itself all over the soccer world. We’ll look at some of soccer’s Biggest Losers for the week.

The list includes Premier League managers Alan Pardew and Arsene Wenger for reasons outlined above.

Germany’s Hamburger SV simply let their fans down, and goalkeeper Rene Adler had a priceless reaction to a shock defeat.

Pawel Kieszek play-acted his way onto the list … poorly.

A segment of Lazio’s fan-base is notorious for race-baiting opponents. They were at it again on Sunday, earning them the top spot on our (unranked) list of the week’s biggest losers. See the rest below, and click here to see last week’s Biggest Winners.

Editor’s note: Soccer season is officially under way, and we’re celebrating it with a new, recurring series called “Biggest Winner” and “Biggest Loser”. Each week, we’ll look back at the previous week’s action  (from Tuesday through Monday) and pick the biggest winners and losers. Soccer editor Marcus Kwesi O’Mard isn’t labeling anyone a “winner” or “loser.” Simply put, he thinks those who appear had a really good week or a really bad week. They appear in no particular order.
