aaron hernandezIt appears Aaron Hernandez may have been on his way out of New England regardless.

The former Patriots tight end was “one misstep from being cut” by Bill Belichick, according to Rolling Stone. The magazine’s website posted six highlights from an investigation into Hernandez’s life. Among them was that Belichick was “infuriated” with Hernandez for missing practice and taking part in “thug-life stunts.”

Hernandez was a heavy user of angel dust, or PCP, according to the magazine. His paranoia from taking the drug led him to carry a gun wherever he went. He also cut ties with his family and friends, falling in with a “cohort of gangsters” instead.

The magazine also reports Urban Meyer “may have helped cover up failed drug tests, along with two violent incidents” while Hernandez was at the University of Florida. Hernandez reportedly punched a bouncer down in Gainesville and was briefly investigated for his involvement in a drive-by shooting.
