Report: Alex Rodriguez’s ‘Inner Circle’ Leaked Documents Implicating Ryan Braun in Biogenesis Scandal

Alex Rodriguez continues to look worse with every day that passes, and the latest report certainly won’t help the disgraced slugger’s image.

CBS’ 60 Minutes reports the Yankees third baseman’s “inner circle” leaked documents that implicated Milwaukee Brewers star Ryan Braun in the Biogenesis scandal, which led to a 65-game suspension. If that wasn’t enough, Rodriguez’s people’s leaks also implicated A-Rod’s own teammate, catcher Francisco Cervelli, who is serving a 50-game suspension of his own right now.

The leak reportedly came just after a Miami New Times story broke the Biogenesis news. Braun and Cervelli originally had their names redacted from the original report, but Camp Rodriguez leaked their involvement to Yahoo! Sports, according to the 60 Minutes report. They also unredacted documents that seemed to implicate Baltimore’s Danny Valencia, but he was later cleared by Major League Baseball.

Rodriguez’s camp, unsurprisingly, is denying the allegations.

“The allegations are untrue and are another attempt to harm Alex — this time by driving a wedge between Alex and other players in the game,” Rodriguez’s lawyer David Cornwell said in a statement to 60 Minutes. “While Alex focuses on baseball and repeatedly states that he is going to respect the appeal process, the drumbeat of false allegations continues.”

Rodriguez himself was given a 211-game suspension, but he continues to play as he has appealed the suspension. That appeal is expected to be heard this fall, which allows Rodriguez to play with the Yankees in the meantime.
