Pitcher Daisuke Matsuzaka asked for and was granted his release from the Cleveland Indians earlier this week. It didn’t take long for him to find a new employer.

The Japanese right-hander has agreed to a contract with the New York Mets, according to CBS Sports.com. According to the report, Matsuzaka will go straight to the big leagues for New York. The hurler hadn’t seen any big league action with the Indians, and he hasn’t pitched in the majors since last season with the Red Sox.
