After scouring a lake in Bristol, Conn., for a murder weapon in the Odin Lloyd murder case, police have reportedly come up empty.

A week-long search for a .45 mm handgun in the lake located in the hometown of former Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez was unsuccessful, a law enforcement official told CNN on Wednesday. Investigators reportedly plan to return to the area next week to search another smaller body of water.

Hernandez has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder in the death of the 27-year-old Lloyd. Prosecutors reportedly have a strong circumstantial case against Hernandez, but a murder weapon has not yet been found.
