Rhode Island, Connecticut Come Out on Top in First Day of Little League New England Regional Tournament

The Little League New England Regional Tournament kicked off Friday, Aug. 2 with two games in Bristol, Conn.

In the first game of the tournament, Lincoln, R.I., defeated Saco, Maine, by a score of 11-2. Rhode Island jumped out ahead early and posted five runs in the third inning. Lincoln was led by four hits from Aaron DeSousa and three from Kyle Marrapese.

Westport, Conn., bested South Burlington, Vt., 8-2 in the evening game. Harry Azadian led the way for Westport on the mound and at the plate, knocking in four RBIs and pitching four shutout innings.
