Tom Brady, Tim TebowFOXBORO, Mass. — Tim Tebow hasn’t looked great to this point in Patriots training camp, but Tom Brady still expressed some confidence in the backup quarterback.

“I’ve really enjoyed it,” Brady said of spending time with his new teammate. “He is a great guy. He is fun to be around.”

Brady has spent some time individually talking and working with Tebow, both during and after practices, since the former Broncos and Jets quarterback signed with the Patriots in June. Brady sounds like he’s been impressed with Tebow on the whole and even remains optimistic about his future.

“He’s had a lot of experience and a lot of productivity, so we have good conversation,” Brady said. “He loves playing football and those are usually the type of guys that do well.”

Like Brady, Tebow isn’t a conventional-style quarterback, but his experience running hybrid or even read-option style offenses in Denver and New York do make him something of a commodity for the Patriots. And Brady recognizes the value it can bring.

“He’s been on a few different teams. He’s run some different style offenses. He’s done a good job,” Brady said. “He’s come in here and Josh [McDaniels] has had some familiarity with him, coaching him in Denver. He’s come in and just tried to do the best that he can do.”

So far, Tebow’s “best” hasn’t produced stellar results, but he does seem to be making some progress — of which Brady could probably take some credit.
