tim-tebow5 copyTim Tebow showed promise during his short tenure with the Patriots, but New England ultimately decided to let the quarterback go Saturday afternoon.

After making it through one cut, the 26-year-old couldn’t survive the final roster trimming before the regular season gets underway. Tebow Time was short-lived in Boston, but should it have been?

In the past, the Pats have only employed two quarterbacks. There may not have been room for Tebow on a team already set at the position with Tom Brady and Ryan Mallett, but Tebow could have been the exception to the rule, as he had shown improvement throughout the preseason, building chemistry with his receivers and improving his throwing mechanics.

After providing many cringe-worthy moments on the gridiron, though, Tebow’s three preseason appearances for the Patriots didn’t always help his case for a roster spot — such as his -1 yard performance against the Bucs — but Tebow seemed to be finding his rhythm in the last game of the preseason.

One game wasn’t enough to save Tebow’s hopes of making the team, however, and after completing only 11 of 30 passes for 145 yards during the preseason, the Patriots opted to let him go.
