Xander Bogaerts’ Overexcitement for Big League Debut Led Him to Put Warmup Shirt on Backwards

Xander Bogaerts is a very good baseball player, and he’s expected to have a very successful major league career. However, even players with that kind of talent and future get a little bit nervous for a big league debut.

Bogaerts got his first taste of the bigs Tuesday night when he started at shortstop for the Red Sox in an eventual loss to the San Francisco Giants. It’s only natural that players get excited and a little bit nervous, and that sometimes leads to a mishap or two.

For Bogaerts, that mishap came while getting dressed.

Bay Area reporter Joe Stiglich reported Tuesday night that Bogaerts had a little trouble with his warmup jersey until Mike Napoli helped him out.

Bogaerts went 0-for-3 with a strikeout and left five men on base, so those nerves appear to have carried over into the game.

Hat tip to Over the Monster for this one.
