Chris Davis joined some elite company on Friday night.

The Baltimore Orioles slugger connected for his 50th home run of the season as he launched a tiebreaking solo shot in the eighth inning against the Blue Jays. Davis became the 27th player to join the 50-homer club, and he is the first since Jose Bautista did so in 2010 with 54. Davis is also just the third person in major league history to hit 50 home runs and 40 doubles in the same season. The only others to do that were Babe Ruth and Albert Belle.

In addition to making history, Davis’ shot gave the O’s the late-inning lead, and they would eventually go on to win 5-3, snapping Baltimore’s three-game losing streak.
