The Chicago Cubs are once again in the market for a new manager.
The club announced Monday that it had fired manager Dale Sveum after two years at the helm. The Cubs, fielding a team largely composed of big leaguers who shouldn’t have been in the big leagues, went 127-197 under Sveum’s watch. That comes out to just a .392 winning percentage.
The Chicago job was Sveum’s first as full-time manager. He had served as the Brewers’ interim manager in 2008 for 12 games.
The Cubs’ next manager will be the second managerial hire under Theo Epstein and will be the club’s fifth skipper since 2006.
