Veteran safety Ed Reed is over the hill — at least according to his teammates.

The All-Pro has yet to play a snap in a Texans uniform because of an injury, but that doesn’t mean his new teammates wouldn’t have a little fun with him. Reed walked into the team locker room Wednesday to find a birthday gift — for his 35th birthday — wrapped for him in front of his locker and unveiled it for his teammates.

“It’s a platinum walker,” Reed joked, according to Ultimate Texans.

The walker can make for a good joke “you’re getting old” gift in most circumstances, but in Reed’s situation it hits a little close to home. The former Baltimore Raven suffered a hip injury when he was kicked in the side by Tom Brady as the Patriots quarterback went in for a slide during last year’s AFC Championship Game.

Reed has been limited in practice and will be a game-time decision for this Sunday’s matchup against the Tennessee Titans, according to John McClain of the Houston Chronicle.
