Gareth Bale, Daniel CarvajalGareth Bale apparently has little time for irony or foreboding.

Just weeks after joining Real Madrid in a reported world-record transfer, Bale has rented the home of one of the biggest transfer flops in Real Madrid history: Kaka.

The Mail reports Bale will pay landlord Kaka  £10,000 ($16,000) per month to rent his mansion in the Pozuelo de Alarcon part of La Finca — an exclusive neighborhood in suburban Madrid.

“The two-story, four-bedroom house, valued at £6.5 million [$10.4 million] and designed by renowned architect Joaquin Torres is 1,500 square meters (16,146 square feet) and includes a six-car garage, indoor pool, gym, two utility rooms and several terraces and porches,” the report says.

“As revealed by Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo, the club acted as mediator between Bale and Kaka, who has moved back to AC Milan. The upper floor includes a master bedroom with a large dressing room and en suite, plus an office. The ground floor is bigger and includes a double height living room and feature fireplace.”

Bale’s neighbors will include Real Madrid teammates Iker Casillas, Karim Benzema, Sergio RamosCristiano Ronaldo also lives in the neighborhood, but he is reportedly trying to sell his $7 million mansion.

Bale joined Real Madrid from Tottenham Hotspur earlier this month. The Spanish club reportedly paid Tottenham €100 million ($132 million) to release Bale from his contract and is paying the player around £300,000 ($480,000) per week. Renting Kaka’s place is an expensive proposition, but we think Bale can afford it on his salary.

Kaka joined Real Madrid from AC Milan in 2009 in a then-record £56 million ($89.2 million) transfer. However, injuries and a loss of form crippled his career in Spain and he returned to Milan on a free transfer earlier this month.

On Sept. 14, Bale scored on his Real Madrid debut, but a thigh injury has ruled him out of his team’s last two games.

We’re not trying to make any connection. We’re just saying Bale moves to Real Madrid, rents Kaka’s house, then he gets injured. Also, Halloween is five weeks away. That’s all.
