Mark SanchezThe Jets will be without Mark Sanchez until Week 11.

New York placed the quarterback on injured reserve-designated to return. That means Sanchez can play Nov. 17 against the Bills at the earliest.

Sanchez injured his shoulder in the Jets’ final preseason game. He has a torn labrum that may not require surgery. If Sanchez had to undergo surgery for the injury, it would be a season-ender.

The Jets have started Geno Smith in Sanchez’s place. Smith has been impressive so far, leading New York to a 1-1 record while completing 53.4 percent of his passes.

Sanchez was spotted at Gillette Stadium before Thursday night’s game throwing deep passes with his left arm. It’s Sanchez’s right throwing shoulder that’s injured.
