Jim Larranaga Locked Up by Miami Through 2022 as Hurricanes Men’s Basketball Coach

Jim LarranagaCORAL GABLES, Fla. — Miami basketball coach Jim Larranaga has received a three-year extension from the Hurricanes, who now have him under contract for the next nine seasons.

Larranaga led the Hurricanes to 29 wins last season, along with the Atlantic Coast Conference regular-season and tournament championships and a trip to the round of 16 in the NCAA tournament. Larranaga, the father of Boston Celtics assistant coach Jay Larranaga, was The Associated Press coach of the year.

Larranaga’s new deal expires May 31, 2022. He has been with the Hurricanes for two seasons, already getting two extensions.

Larranaga is 49-20 at Miami and 519-354 for his career.
