Joe Maddon Invites Fans to ‘Win or Weep’ Party After Game Against Angels, Promises Free Beer

Win or lose, the Rays were going to party on Tuesday night.

In what is far from the first unorthodox move Joe Maddon has made with the Rays, the skipper announced prior to Tuesday night’s tilt with the Los Angeles Angels that there would be a “Win or Weep” party at Legends bar in Long Beach, Calif., after the game. Maddon encouraged Rays fans in Southern California to come out and celebrate in their team’s apparel — no matter the results of the game — and they would be rewarded with free beer.

In the midst of a five-game losing streak, Maddon’s incentive proved worthy enough to snap the skid for his club, and the Rays went on to defeat the Angels, 7-1.

“It was the Win or Weep party post-game tonight,” he said. “Fortunately, it’s a Win party.”
