Jurickson Profar won’t turn 21 until February. But that didn’t stop the Rangers from busting out the booze following Profar’s walk-off homer Thursday.
Profar’s teammates — still fired up about the 20-year-old’s game-winning home run — doused him in beer upon returning to the clubhouse. While it isn’t a big deal, people still tend to be curious about how underage players celebrate while everyone else dips into alcohol. (See: 20-year-old Xander Bogaerts, who was unable to indulge in a few postgame brewskis after the Red Sox clinched their AL East title.) Rangers closer Joe Nathan made sure that everyone understood that no laws or rules were broken during Profar’s beer shower, though.
“Well, he didn’t drink any,” Nathan told reporters. “He just wore it. Clothes aren’t underage.”
Oh, thank goodness.
