FOXBORO, Mass. — Just as Tom Brady was reportedly calling and texting his former receivers and fans were ready to give up on them for good, Kenbrell Thompkins and Aaron Dobson may have finally earned the trust of their quarterback with impressive performances against the Buccaneers.
Thompkins and Dobson were having no trouble getting open against Tampa Bay’s zone defense. Brady showed no hesitation throwing to his rookies. The Patriots signal caller targeted Thompkins and Dobson on 17 of his 36 passes.
The rookies caught 10 of those balls and dropped two. Brady was actually to blame for the majority of his incompletions.
