Landon Donovan, Alexi Lalas, Other U.S. Soccer Legends Appear as 8-Bit Nintendo Characters (Photo)

As the U.S. men’s national soccer team prepares to face Mexico in a crucial FIFA World Qualifier, one creator turned back the clock and recognized some great American players of the past and present.

Iconic figures such as Landon DonovanĀ and Alexi Lalas appear as eight-bit Nintendo (NES) characters in a photo, which ESPN shared on Twitter.

Also included are Marcelo Balboa, Michael Bradley, Cobi Jones andĀ John O’Brien.

The name game gets more difficult from here, as some characters aren’t as recognizable as their teammates. The likes of John Harkes and Brad Friedel appear to be included, but we’re not certain. If you can name the whole squad, let us know.
