Malcolm Subban struggled in a big way Thursday night in his first home start as a member of the Bruins. While it was only preseason, Subban was embarrassed as he was lit up for eight goals in an 8-2 loss to the Detroit Red Wings.

Things got so bad that fans were mock-cheering every save Subban made late in the rout, and some (uneducated) fans in the balcony started chanting “We want Tuukka” late in the game as well.

All in all, not a fun night for the 19-year-old.

However, if what Subban did after the game is any indication, he should be all right. The young goaltender — who will be in Providence this season — wasted no time getting back to work. Subban could be seen running sprints and doing lunges up the stairs of an empty TD Garden about 30 minutes after the game came to a merciful end.
