The battle for Bruins backup goalie is one of the few real positional battles going on in B’s camp, and Niklas Svedberg did his best to make his case Tuesday night in Baltimore.

The Bruins were in Maryland on Tuesday night to take on the Washington Capitals in preseason action, and the young netminder looked pretty good against the Caps. The 24-year-old made 12 saves on 13 shots while backing up starter Tuukka Rask. The game went into overtime and eventually a shootout with Svedberg seeing action between the pipes for the shootout.

He looked impressive in the eight-round shootout, allowing just two shots against a mix of Capitals regulars and youngsters. Svedberg’s performance set the stage for Carter Camper to win it for the Bruins.
