Patrice Bergeron was injured during the Stanley Cup Final and when it was all said and done, he was hurt, too. The injuries were notable with the Bruins center suffering a broken rib, some torn cartilage, a separated shoulder and a punctured lung. The hurt? That came from the series’ final result.
While it’s unlikely he would have been able to  play in a Game 7 against Chicago had Boston won Game 6, that doesn’t mean he feels any better about seeing the Bruins bounced in six games. Quite the opposite, of course.
“It’s definitely not the ending you were hoping for or wanted, but it does motivate you for more,” the Bruins center told NHL Network’s Kathryn Tappen. “And to get it back, and to get the same feeling that we had in 2011 when we won. That’s the memories we want to get back to.”
The good news for Bergeron and the Bruins is that he’s back and just about ready to go after an offseason geared around rehabilitating those injuries suffered during the Cup Final.
