After two disappointing 5-7 campaigns, Paul Pasqualoni entered the 2013 season needing to win to save his job. He didn’t.
Pasqualoni was relieved of his duties as UConn’s head football coach, the university announced on its website, after the Huskies began the season 0-4. Offensive line coach George DeLeone was also dismissed.
“I am making this change in our football coaching staff now as we approach the conference season to see an improved performance from our football program,” UConn athletic director Warde Manuel said in a statement. “I am disappointed in the record of our team thus far, but I am confident that our coaching staff and student-athletes will continue to work hard to improve and that will be reflected on the field of play as we start our American Athletic Conference season.”
Pasqualoni will receive $750,000 per terms of his contract. He went 10-18 overall as Huskies coach, including an embarrassing 33-18 loss to Football Championship Subdivision opponent Towson in the season opener.
