Danny AmendolaThis is not the news Tom Brady was hoping to hear.

After connecting with Danny Amendola 10 times for over 100 yards in Week 1, it appears the two may not be linking up again for some time.

Amendola could miss anywhere between two and six weeks as he recovers from a groin injury, according to the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. The star receiver suffered the injury during the preseason, missing the final two exhibition games. He reinjured the groin during the first half in Buffalo last week, but he returned midway through the third quarter and was a key cog in the Patriots’ comeback win.

Amendola has a bad history of injuries in the past, including a broken collarbone that cost him six games in the 2012 season. His injury history was concerning for the Patriots when giving him a five-year, $28.5 million deal. Only the first two seasons and $12 million are guaranteed on the contract, though. The rest of his deal is tied to games played bonuses, which could be an easy out for the Patriots if he is unable to remain fully healthy.
