Danny AmendolaIt looks like Danny Amendola won’t be missing significant time because of a sports hernia.

The latest news comes from Karen Guregian of the Boston Herald as initial reports said that Amendola suffered torn adductor muscles and could miss up to six weeks if he had to undergo surgery on a possible sports hernia. Now, that surgery is off the table, and Amendola’s return is in the framework of “a few weeks,” according to Guregian.

On Monday, Amendola was spotted participating in practice with his Patriots teammates after missing time because of a groin injury he sustained in the week leading up to the Patriots’ season opener against Buffalo. Amendola left that game late in the second period, grabbing his groin area in pain. He later returned to the game, though, and caught 10 passes for 104 yards. The receiver didn’t play at all in the Pats’ Week 2 win over the New York Jets.
