If you’ve never heard of DeAndre Liggins, don’t feel bad. He’s never really done anything noteworthy in the NBA, and judging by a report out of Oklahoma City, he doesn’t deserve much positive attention anyway.
Liggins, an obscure guard out of Kentucky who has averaged 1.6 points per game in two professional seasons, is accused to attacking his girlfriend in a brutal-sounding probable cause affidavit filed Tuesday, The Oklahoman reports. Liggins, 25, punched his girlfriend, Jasmine Horton, in the head in front of their 2-year-old son, according to the report, and that’s not even the most disturbing part.
“Liggins hit her in the head with his hand and then punched her in the head when she fell on the ground, according to the affidavit filed in Oklahoma County District Court,” Matt Dinger reports. “The couple’s 2-year-old son was in the room during the incident at their home. …
“Horton locked herself in a bedroom before Liggins reportedly kicked in the door, pushed her down, dropped a fan on her, stomped her with his foot and dropped an Xbox on her head, according to the affidavit.”
Liggins was booked on complaints of domestic assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and domestic abuse in the presence of a minor, according to The Oklahoman, but he has not been charged. He is the second NBA player this week to be accused of domestic violence after Celtics forward Jared Sullinger was charged with assault and battery for pinning his girlfriend to the bed and floor and knocking her cell phone out of her hand during an argument.
