The Bills could have extended a key fourth-quarter drive if Stevie Johnson had pulled in a pass from EJ Manuel on third-and-two with just under nine minutes remaining.

The ball glanced off Johnson’s fingertips, but still looked catchable. The Bills’ No. 1 wideout says it was not as easy as it looked.

“It looked like the play should have been made, but with my extending how I did, it was like my length just got my hands on the ball,” Johnson told ESPN.com. “I felt like it was harder than it was, what really happened. Looking at the film, yeah, I was wide open. I beat the guy … It was tougher than what it looked.”

Not that Johnson is making excuses or anything. The Bills were leading 21-20 at the time. The Patriots came back to kick a game-winning field goal with five seconds left in the game.

Check out the gif below to see just how difficult the catch would have been to make.
