An act of aggression on the Pop Warner field will sideline one 12-year-old for a game.

After a play was blown dead during a Kansas City area youth football game, one player refused to stop, instead throwing his opponent down and deliberately kicking him in the head. Video of the incident, which took place on Oct. 5, was picked up by local news outlet KCTV5, and the player in question was later given a one-game suspension.

“For a boy of this age to have responded in this manner was just totally out of line and deliberate,” Keesha Martin, whose son was the one kicked, told the news station.

Martin said her son suffered a concussion but is expected to play in his team’s final two games.
