Alex Edler Unleashes Blast from Center Ice, Marc-Andre Fleury Allows Long Goal (Video)

Marc-Andre Fluery underwent his fair share of scrutiny during the offseason, struggling mightily in the postseason, but the netminder has quickly jumped out to seven wins this season with the Penguins.

With a shootout victory on Saturday afternoon, Pittsburgh remained undefeated at home on the season. Fleury stopped 36 shots in the contest, but the one he was unable to keep out of the back of the net was unfortunately the most memorable one.

After serving a three-game suspension for a hit on Thomas Hertl, Alex Edler made his return to the ice, and his presence wasn’t the only gift the Canucks received. Fleury gave up quite the gift goal to the Vancouver defenseman, allowing a shot from center ice to sneak past him.

Edler unleashed his blast from the red line, and Fleury was able to stand up and initially block the puck with his chest. The puck then ricocheted off his body, spun over his head and dropped behind him for the unlikely tally.
