Boston College Goalie Honors Boston Marathon Tragedy With ‘Boston Strong’ Artwork on Mask (Photo)

Thatcher Demko will likely be starting between the pipes for Boston College in the upcoming season, and he’ll be taking the ice with one of the best masks in college hockey.

The 17-year-old is a San Diego, Calif., native, but he’s fully embracing his new home, paying homage to the Boston Marathon tragedy with some spectacular artwork on his helmet. With B.C.’s coat of arms and a bald eagle occupying one side of the mask, the other has silhouettes of runners filled in with the American flag, the rallying cry of “Boston Strong” above them and the date of the of the tragic event below them.

Heading into the 2014 NHL draft, Demko is one of the leading goalie prospects. Check out his mask in the photo below.
