The Boston Bruins open up their 90th season of hockey on Thursday night against the Tampa Bay Lightning, marking the first time since 1991 that the team has opened their season on Oct. 3.

The Bruins took on the New York Rangers on Oct. 3, 1991 at Boston Garden, and to celebrate the NHL’s 75hth anniversary that year, the Bs wore some classic throwback uniforms for some of their games. For the season opener, the team donned a jersey style from the mid 1930s — pre-spoked-B — on its way to a 5-3 win over the Rangers.
