In honor of the Bruins’ 90th anniversary season, the team is taking the opportunity to pay homage to the rich history of Boston hockey.

On Monday, the B’s recognized the teams from the 1940s and ’50s by paying tribute to former Bruins captain, coach and general manager Milt Schmidt, a Hockey Hall of Famer whose No. 15 has hung from the rafters in Boston since 1980.

Schmidt, now 95, was greeted by a rousing standing ovation from the TD Garden crowd before dropping the ceremonial puck between Zdeno Chara and Detroit’s Henrik Zetterberg.
