Canadiens’ Josh Gorges Shatters Glass Inside Penalty Box, Narrowly Misses Nailing Sean Couturier in Face (Video)

Hockey players have to be aware of their surroundings at all times, even when they’re coming out of the penalty box. Flyers center Sean Couturier almost learned that the hard way on Saturday night.

Couturier was coming back onto the ice after serving a two-minute minor when the puck went flying by his head into the penalty box. Montreal Canadiens defenseman Josh Gorges had intercepted a pass in his own zone and took a big hack at the puck, trying to clear it off the glass and back down the ice, sending it zipping past Couturier in the process.

The puck shattered a glass pane inside the box, leaving Couturier shaking his head in amazement and fans seated nearby jumping out of the way to avoid the shards.
