Adam Wainwright didn’t bring his “A” game to the mound or the batter’s box on Monday night.
During his at-bat in the sixth inning of Game 3 of the NLCS against the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Cardinals’ starting pitcher accidentally tossed his bat into the cameramen section after fouling off a pitch. Â Wainwright would eventually ground out to third for the first out of the inning.
St. Louis was hoping that its ace would help them take a 3-0 lead in the series, but Wainwright has allowed two runs on six hits through seven innings. As a result, the Cardinals trail 2-0 heading into the eighth. If the Dodgers hold on to win, the 32-year-old will receive his first loss of this postseason after winning his two starts in the NLDS against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
